The field is ready for the prestigious South Asian Games. The mega event will be open on Sunday, with athletes from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka participating. The games will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, for a total of 10 days. Shillong hosted the last event (in 2016) in India. This time the tournament is being played in all 27 sports. India, which has been in the fray with the Jumbo team, has only competed in 17 games. The 1500 meter racer Piyu Chitra will be led by Shotputter Tejinderpal Singh along with a team of 75 athletes. Shotgunner Tejinderpal Singh Thur will be the Indian flag bearer at the inaugural South Asian Games. Asian Games champion Tejinder will lead the Indian team in the preparations for the opening ceremony on Sunday.
