Rahul Dravid said that local coaches can understand Indian players very well
Expressing disappointment over the lack of opportunities for Indian coaches in the IPL, veteran Indian batsman Rahul Dravid said that teams are making mistakes by not taking them in the support staff. Former captain and director of the National Cricket Academy, Dravid said that the Indian coaches are nothing less than anyone. He told ESPN Cricinfo that I believe we have some great coaches. I have full faith in their ability. We have a lot of talent in cricket and also in coaches.
He said that we need to give them confidence. I feel sad that many of our coaches do not get the opportunity to work as assistant coaches in IPL. Dravid said that there are so many Indian players in the IPL who would have benefited from local coaches. They can understand Indian players better. There are around 17-18 players in every team.
Keeping in mind the preparations for next year’s World Cup, Dravid came to Lucknow to watch the ODI match between India Under-19 and Afghanistan Under-19. India has won the four-match series 3-1. Under-19 Team India won the Under-19 World Cup last time under the leadership of Dravid. From that winning team, three excellent bowling bowlers like Kamlesh Nagerkoti, Shivam Mavi and Ishaan Porel emerged. Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid said that in the coming days, many good bowlers will come out of the Under-19 team. He said that every time the best bowlers are coming out of the Under-19 team. Dravid said that the last time the three bowlers were seen by the world and this year too some great fast bowlers will be seen.
