Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is always talking about global warming and its impact on the environment. He has now expressed concern over Delhi’s pollution. The actor has written a long-wide note on the social media account. Some photos are also shared with the note. The photos are from India Gate, in which people are protesting.
In his note, Leonardo wrote: “More than 1500 people gathered at India Gate in Delhi. They are demanding immediate action on the rising pollution levels in the city. According to the World Health Organisation, air pollution in India kills nearly 1.5 million people every year. These figures make air pollution the fifth largest killer in India,” he said.
Leonardo further wrote: “People of all ages joined the demonstration, which led to the action taken. The Indian Prime Minister’s office set up a special panel to address the issue within hours of the protests. The panel was to prepare a report on the issue within two weeks. The Supreme Court of India asked the Central Government and the concerned State Governments to fix the issue of crop and waste burning within a week.”
The Centre acknowledged that the green fund would be used to tackle toxic air pollution. But despite all these promises, Delhi’s air is still unsafe. Workers will continue to pressurize until the safe level of air pollution reaches,” he said.
